The Tizen OS smartwatches have been unveiled at the IFA 2015 in Berlin beginning of September.
Users of Samsung’s upcoming Z3 Tizen powered smartphone will be able to sync their handset with the Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch, says a new report.
The Gear S2 is 11.4mm thin (Apple Watch is 10.5 mm thin).
The watch runs Samsung’s Tizen-based operating system and features a new control mechanism: in addition to touching the display or using the buttons on the side of the watch, you can rotate the bezel around the screen to navigate through lists and menus.
Inside the watch is 4GB internal storage, 512MB RAM and a dual-core 1.0GHz processor.
Samsung claims that the battery can last up to 2-3 days. The Samsung Gear S2 reflects Samsung’s most progressive innovation. Like the Apple Watch, the Gear S2 offers a number of band and finish choices, includes a heart-rate sensor and has microphones for voice recognition.

The Gear S2 will be available for purchase at the Samsung website, as well as at Macy’s, Amazon and Best Buy. U.S. Cellular will only have the Bluetooth version. The key highlight of the Samsung Gear S2 is the ability of its 3G model to be used independently without being paired to any compatible device. Wireless providers will confirm specific models, colors, pricing and availability. It’ll be available in stores at Best Buy and at Macy’s Herald Square location.
