Samsung has apparently received 26 false reports of Note 7s exploding
South Korean officials, however, have a few things to say about the Galaxy Note 7 before sales resume. “For this reason, The Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands (CAACI) strongly advises air operators, passengers and crew of this safety risk and is recommending that Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices not be turned on or charged while on board the aircraft and not to be placed in checked baggage”.

Samsung Electronics Co.SSNHZ 0.00 % , reeling from a massive recall of its premium smartphones amid reports of batteries catching fire, said that about 250,000 customers in the US who had purchased its defective smartphone had exchanged their devices as of Tuesday. In many territories, Samsung has new Galaxy Note 7 units at the ready and is set to resume sales soon. “Cayman Airways is also advising passengers that this particular device is not to be stored in checked luggage”. Samsung Electronics shipped 100,000 units of the new Galaxy Note 7 phones to carriers and retail stores on the first day of the exchange program to ensure there is no bottleneck.
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC), in collaboration with Samsung, has announced the launch of the Replacement Programme for Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Only 18,000 Note 7 users, or 4.5 percent of the total, have so far canceled their phone activation in the country.
There have been 92 reports of the batteries overheating or catching fire in the U.S., including 26 reports of burns and 55 reports of property damage, including fires in cars and a garage, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The initiative covers devices sold before September 15 and start with model number SM-N930 with a screen dimension of 5.7 inches, the MEC has said in a statement.
