Speaking at the launch, H.C Hong, President and CEO, Samsung India Electronics, said, “The launch of Samsung Z3 re-emphasizes India’s significance as a key centre for innovation and development on the Tizen operating system, with India being the first country to globally launch the Z3”.
Samsung, the world’s largest vendor of smartphones, relies on Android to power nearly all of its smartphones.
But the biggest test for Samsung will come in the competitive smartphone market, where other aspiring smartphone platform builders like Microsoft Corp. and BlackBerry Ltd. have stumbled. The Samsung Z3 (no Z2) is in the upper strata of the entry-level segment, with roughly Galaxy S III hardware. The phone is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core SoC, and a 2,600mAh battery is also a part of this package. The next generation Tizen smartphone, Samsung Z3, designed and manufactured in India, has been packed with a host of services and features for first time smartphone adopters in India. The device is expected to be upgraded to Tizen 2.4 quite soon actually.

The device comes with pre-installed Mix Radio app, the personalized music streaming service. It will be offered in gold, black and silver colour variants. That being said, in terms of specs the Samsung Z3 is actually a pretty decent handset for its price. The device also comes with the “Ultra Data Saving Mode” that was first seen in the recently launched Galaxy J2, this features save upto 40 percent data usage by data compression not only in the browsers but also the in-app data. Available exclusively on Snapdeal, Samsung Z3 will be up for sale starting October 21 at Rs 8,490. The thing is, if you want a Tizen-powered phone, you have only two options, and this one is better than the alternative. After the Samsung Z1’s launch in India in January, sales of the phone were extended to neighboring Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
