Samsung also showed off virtual reality hardware alongside its latest Galaxy S7 smartphones.

On the software front, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge (seen below) run Android 6.0 Marshmallow, though Samsung has not yet detailed TouchWiz UI changes.

Galaxy S7 powers up up to twice as fast with Samsung’s fast charging.

“The battery in this device is now 3,500 milliampere (mAh) which is a considerable increase compared to previous devices”.

The 5.1-inch Galaxy S7 and 5.5-inch Galaxy S7 edge are constructed with 3D glass and metal – all in a sleek design with durability and ergonomic curves for a comfortable grip. Both the S7 variants have also received the mush awaited water resistance IP68 certifications.

Both new Galaxy models have support for microSD cards and 32GB of internal storage (a 64GB model will be available in some regions outside the U.S.), and 4GB of RAM. The phones can stitch together photos and footage taken by the camera to produce 360-degree videos, a function which according to Samsung could previously only be performed by computers. Users are also able to shoot 180-degree wide angle video and images using only one side of the camera lens.

It’s clear that it’s not just about a phone anymore. But this one is a bit better-two cameras for 360-degree imaging.

“These new devices combined with the Samsung VR bundle and a year of Netflix on us are a win for consumers who want the hottest new Samsung superphone”, said T-Mobile president and CEO John Legere. You can take a look at AT&T’s Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge page here. Additional features include tripod mount and handgrip (included) water resistant body and a tiny display for settings. Rival South Korean tech firm LG sought to steal Samsung’s thunder by unveiling its new premium handset, the G5, its first modular smartphone which is made using different components that can be independently or replaced such as a removable battery. The company has also not opted for the USB Type-C port and is going ahead with the micro USB port. The reason is the traditional microUSB is compatible with its Gear VR headset and the USB C isn’t quite ready to go mainstream.
