Samsung opted to stick with the rotating bezel which first debuted on the Gear S2, and enhanced it with the ability to reject or accept a call or snooze an alarm.

Samsung has today unveiled the third generation of its Gear S smartwatch which now aptly takes the form of the Gear S3 and will be available in two versions the Gear S3 Frontier and the Gear S3 Classic.

The hardware of both Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier models will be the same inside. The Frontier model also has a more rugged design, including differently-shaped buttons and a tachymeter. The Samsung Gear S3 has been announced before Apple’s much awaited event and the company has stolen a march on the Apple Watch, as it will also be able to connect to iPhones, which is fantastic.

As of this writing, we don’t have any information about the pricing or expected release date. “With smart capabilities and sophisticated, elegant design, the Gear S3 marks a significant addition to our smartwatch portfolio”, said Younghee Lee, Executive Vice President of Global Marketing and Wearable Business, Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics in a press statement. Another thing with the Samsung Gear S3 Classic is that it is the kind of accessory that you would rather wear to a formal event.

And for those mad at smartwatch batteries, the Gear S3 comes with a power saving mode that basically turns the S3 in a regular watch and lasts for some 10 hours on just 5% of battery charge. The Frontier is also IP68 water and dust proof.

If you think bigger means better when it comes to your tech, then you are going to love the new Samsung smartwatches.

The Samsung Gear S3 has a round touchscreen display and a circular bezel that rotates, giving you another way to interact with apps.

They made it bigger and they say one model is more like a 4G phone.

The new Samsung Gear S3 is the most refined and advanced wearable we’re seen from the company. There are also some new Samsung-designed leather straps as well. It is also powered by Super AMOLED technology, Samsung’s own display hardware which it claims consumes less power than rival displays when powered on.
