Samsung Officially Announces SM-G9198 Clamshell Smartphone

Samsung adds some power to its latest Android flip phone.

Flip phones have been gaining traction in Asia recently, with LG announcing its “Wine Smart” clamshell two weeks ago.

To keep the phone small – who wants a huge flip-phone? – the handset has a pair of 3.9-inch Super AMOLED screens on the front and back of one part; the base of the phone has standard keypad buttons. Under the hood, it packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, a 2G B of RAM, and up to 16 GB built-in memory storage. The upcoming phone will sport a 16 megapixel camera with LED flash and a 5 megapixel front snapper. The Samsung SM-G9198 supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, GLONASS, and Micro-USB connectivity options.

Moreover, the beefed-up flip phone offers dual-sim support and arrives complete with 4G LTE and 3G support. The 16MP sensor is expected to be the same that featured on Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy Note 5.

The company’s homeland Korea was their favourite market for flip hone but with the launch of this phone in China it seems that Samsung is attempting to expand their market. The smartphone has 16GB internal storage along with microSD card support for expansion up to 128GB. Samsung fans from North America were psyched to hear that the company finally and officially unveiled their two latest devices, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Samsung Galaxy Note 5 last August. 13.
