Samsung officially postpones launch of Galaxy Note7 in Nigeria

According to sources on Thursday, some 20,000 Note 7 owners returned their old phones to get replacements on September 19 when the exchange program kicked off Korea after the devices were recalled for the battery problem. Updates have gone out to inform users who own bad units, and to limit their charge capacity to help mitigate the danger of their continued operation as the official worldwide recall moves forward.

Verizon Communications has begun taking orders for Samsung’s new Galaxy Note 7 smartphones, after having stopped sales of the device earlier due to fire-prone batteries.

There’s also a Galaxy Note 7 recall page that owners can use to identify if their device needs to be exchanged.

Today the first of Samsung’s new Galaxy Note7 smartphones (50,000, according to the manufacturer) have arrived in retail outlets as part of a recall program offer announced by the phone maker and the Consumer Product Safety Commission on September 15. In the USA there were around 92 reports of battery overheating.

Around 35 percent confirmed they will look for a reimbursement, while percent stated that they will purchase an iPhone instead, Samsung’s biggest rival smartphone in the U.S. Another 21 percent confirmed they would choose another Samsung phone. This comes as great news for potential Note 7 owners who were waiting for the phone’s sales to resume. However, reports from wireless carrier locations in Seoul indicate Samsung does not have enough units available, so some consumers are still left with a potentially defective device while they wait. Another report of a child suffering burns after a phone exploded in his hands was found to be a different Samsung device other than the Galaxy Note 7.
