Samsung loves to sing about how Samsung Pay’s simplicity, security, and ubiquity are the cornerstones of its success. According to Samsung, there are over four million registered membership cards in the United States and South Korea.
Samsung Electronics’ mobile payment solution Samsung Pay has sailed past the milestone of 100 million transactions in the global market since its release a year ago in Korea.
So have you used Samsung Pay.
When the service started in August 2015, the mobile payment service, which enables subscribers to make payments through the mobile app with fingerprint approval even if a customer doesn’t have a card, signed an exclusive contract with Woori Bank. Moreover, the record that they got came about a year earlier after the launch of mobile-payment service at home. “Samsung Pay also continues to add banking and merchant partners across the globe, with more than 440 bank issuers now supported by the service”.
The mobile app now offers diverse types of financial services such as depositing and withdrawing cash from ATMs, using it as a transportation card and making purchases online.
Samsung Pay said online transactions made through the app reached 500 billion won since the service became available this year, accounting for 25 percent of transactions.
To celebrate one-year anniversary of Samsung Pay, Samsung Electronics is going to select 365 people out of entries that are made until the 31st and hand out free travel vouchers ($2,680, 5 people), gas cards ($446, 60 people), and free convenience store vouchers ($8.93, 300 people).
