Samsung Received 26 False Reports of Galaxy Note 7 Units Catching Fire
Samsung had on September 2, 2016, announced an official Galaxy Note7 replacement programme due to a rare battery cell manufacturing error which had led to a few reported incidents.

The refund program was scheduled to end Monday, but the Korean government asked Samsung to extend the refund period for the Note 7s to the end of this month.
South Korea ordered Samsung Electronics to conduct more security checks on the new batteries in its Galaxy Note 7 before putting the phones back on the market.
“Lithium-ion batteries pack a lot of power into a small package”. Samsung US started pushing out the update yesterday, and also indicated that 500,000 new Galaxy Note7 replacement devices have arrived in the USA and will be available at retail locations starting tomorrow. In seven cases, Samsung representatives couldn’t reach the victim and in another 7 cases, consumers canceled the report or said that they threw away the device.
Samsung Electronics did not answer emails on Thursday seeking comment. In a video message, Baxter has confirmed that the company replaced 130,000 Galaxy Note 7 in the U.S.
Meanwhile, some anxious defective Note 7 owners who tried to exchange their handsets in stores that very same day were out of luck.
When the carriers stopped selling the Galaxy Note 7 many customers were left disappointed. One of those ways is to issue push notifications that will constantly remind users, and the other comes in the form of a software update that will limit the battery to 60%, thus preventing users from charging it to full which should hopefully prevent explosions. Interested customers will have to pay $0 down and $36 monthly in 24 installments.
Samsung has confirmed that it has shipped 500,000 safe to use Galaxy Note 7 in the U.S. The new stock of the phablet will be offered to customers who were forced to trade-in their potentially risky phones and probably to new customers who have been waiting for the mobile phone for months. “This software update is meant to help consumers easily understand that they can use their new Galaxy Note7 with confidence”, said Paul Brannen, COO and Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics Canada.

The expected return to sales of the Galaxy Note 7 would be on October 21.
