However, the tech-giant has shrugged off these rumors.

The music streaming company called Tidal, which is run by the most popular American rapper Jay-Z, very recently, had two executives fired from the company, one is the CFO Chris Hart and other is the COO Nils Juell.

Dovetailing into the Milk Music shutdown, Samsung is reportedly in talks to acquire Tidal.

As for Samsung, the company is still trying to find solid ground in the music streaming space. There was also the fact that Tidal owner Jay Z has met with Samsung execs several times in the last few months, suggesting that talks were progressing.

“The rumor of Samsung acquiring Tidal is not true”, a Samsung spokesperson has informed Variety.

Google and Spotify are also reportedly interested in TIDAL though Spotify’s interest is in more of a partnership role than an outright acquisition. This service is an ad-free platform that offers unlimited on-demand online streaming of vast music libraries, curated playlists, and personalized stations.

For its part, however, Samsung has remained relatively tight-lipped about the service’s future. “There are lots of empty desks and cubes there”, that source said about the Milk Music team. Forbes reported that in 2015 more than 317 billion songs were streamed worldwide, up 92% from the 164 billion in 2014.
