This new version can be used with any of Samsung’s 2015 lineup (confirmed at this point as the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, and Galaxy S6 Edge+).

Samsung made the announcement today, September 24, during the Oculus Connect 2 livestream, which some watched via virtual reality with their existing Samsung Gear VR headsets.

Though details about the final release were scarce, Koo told the crowd that the new headset will be “22 percent lighter” than the prior model and will receive improvements to the side-of-head touchpad and “overall feel”.
Not much information is available about the VR headset, but Samsung confirmed that it will be sold for US$99 (around AU$150) and shipment will begin by November.
The new Samsung Gear VR also features some improvements, thanks to the company working with the team at Oculus.

The reason the Gear VR is so cheap is because it doesn’t come with its own screen. The system will launch with the Oculus Arcade, a portal to classic games like Pac-Man and Sonic the Hedgehog.
