Samsung Smart Fridge Lets You Order Groceries, Display Family Photos

Samsung’s Family Hub refrigerator is an enormous four-door smart device with a 21.5-inch 1080p Gorilla Glass-covered touchscreen equipped with high-tech food shopping features, a family communication center, IoT and even entertainment. You can then access those images anytime using your smartphone and take a peek inside your fridge.

In addition to company’s existing PowerBot VR9000 and PowerBot Essential Robotic Vacuums, Samsung enhanced the robotic vacuum market with two new additions at the CES 2016: Teh PowerBot Turbo and the PowerBot Essential Wi-Fi.

“We’re excited to find out how more traditional manufacturers are going to find ways for appliances and for other pieces of technology in your house to talk to each other and work effectively without you”, CNET Editor-in-Chief Lindsey Turrentine said.

Samsung said that families will able to share notes and messages that will show on the fridge’s monitor.

Samsung’s not letting slip on the price or the availability but expect it to be over £1000 and potentially even a US-only product.

Several organizations involved in the mobile commerce space have begun showing off their new projects at the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

But that’s not all there is to it. The fridge will be powered by what seems to be an Android operating system and will do a lot more than just showing you its contents. There are also plans to add Instacart compatibility, allowing users in certain cities to have their groceries delivered directly to them. It comes loaded with an app called Groceries, that has been developed in partnership with MasterCard Labs. Using the app of the Family Hub’s touch screen, you can get in contact with a wide range of retailers, and order pretty much anything you want.

The new remote from Samsung is able to automatically recognize each device that is connected to the TV, the company says. Moreover, the user can use their phone or tablets connected to the refrigerator and remain a remote viewer.
