Samsung Supplying Apple With OLED Displays for Apple Watch, Samples for iPhone?

Since the two have bumped up cooperation in the wearables segment, Apple is now receiving samples OLED displays that may be used in upcoming iPhone models. According to new reports, Samsung is now in talks with Apple to get its displays on to the next iPhone and Apple Watch. In fact, comparisons between Samsung’s OLED displays and Apple’s LCD displays have been a staple of gadget reviews for years. Previously LG was the only supplier for the P-OLED displays for the Apple watch, which gave a significant profit to the Korean giant with recorded revenues of more than $186 million in first quarter fiscal year 2016 (Q1FY16).

However, rumors are rumors and Apple is expected to make its final decision in November when it comes to whether to use Samsung as its display supplier or not, till then everything is not confirmed. (JDI). However, Reuters points out that this plan could stretch over a long period of time since the new plant can only begin operating in 2015, the report relays. Reportedly, Samsung recently became one too, and furthermore the aforementioned OEM is now rumored to discuss a possible collaboration for future iPhones.

In addition, reports from Japan are contradicting the rumors and saying Apple will still work with JDI for its next iPhones.

With orders from Apple, Samsung now will have to boost its production of both curved and non-curved OLED panels and may need to acquire new production facilities as its current A3 facilities are just at the initial stage and will need to expand and optimize in order to meet the demand.

Samsung is supplying Apple with OLED displays for the Apple Watch, and is trying to sell Cupertino on using its panels in other devices as well.
