Samsung teases us some more with a Gear S2 video

Samsung used its recent Unpacked event to reveal the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ smartphones but what you may have missed was a quick teaser for its first round smartwatch, the Gear S2.

According to The Verge, there will be a big positive change on the upcoming smartwatch. To top it off, the gadget will reportedly come with chronometer, stopwatch, circular app launcher and S Health app, which keeps track of the basic health monitoring metrics. This appears to be a hint that Samsung is anticipating to speak more about the Gear S2 at IFA in Berlin on September 3. The bands, on the other hand, could settle for rubberized material.

However, the South Korean company released a video on its YouTube channel today, that gives us some useful insights at the latest in the wearable line from Samsung. We’ve now got images of the device, a teaser video and a date for when it will be officially launched.

Expect a stylish and a lot nicer smart watch from Samsung by next month. Until then, we’ll have to rely on the robust rumor network for more unconfirmed but possibly accurate information.

The previous iteration of this watch was the Gear S – a fairly bulky device with a curved screen, that was more a small smartphone that attached to your wrist than a real smartwatch. However, there is no official word on whether it will run Android Wear (customised with some of its own apps) or Tizen. The video showcases a round-faced digital time piece, which does various things ranging from making phone calls and sending messages to keeping track of users’ fitness and scheduling.

As the below patent shows, the Gear A could use a display which divides up the display like a pie chart to show the schedule for one day. The usual heath related hardware such as a heart rate monitor and the Gear A might even be usable as a key for your car and a remote for your TV. It doesn’t take long to identify that Apple got it right with its smartwatch.
