They said it was time they had lost and the problem was not caused by them.

Samsung is doing its part in the recall by replacing customers’ Galaxy Note 7 devices with updated versions that do not explode while being charged.

Samsung said in a statement on its China website its investigation of the phone shows “the damage to this product was caused by external heating”, without elaborating.

Samsung has even issued a software update to all pre-ordered Note 7 devices in Europe that limits the battery charge to 60%, in an effort to reduce the risk of incidents.

The company has begun a limited recall of the phones that affects about 2,000 smart-phones provided in July and August on a trial basis before the phone’s official launch on Sept 1 in China. China is the largest smartphone market of the world.

Samsung says that there have been almost 100 reports of overheating Galaxy Note 7s in the USA, including 26 reports of people being burned by their Note 7s. That account gave no contact information for the user or details of where the person lives.

A estimate that the recall of 2.5 million flagship phones – which have actually exploded in several cases because of problems with the battery – could cost the company upwards of billion.

Samsung has suspended sales of the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone since battery explosions were reported in early September, and allowed a replacement offer for holders of the device.

As for replacement units, Samsung Australia has confirmed that replacement stock will also be available for Galaxy Note 7 customers from September 21. Then a few days later it urged them to immediately turn off the phones.

South Korea’s government has not issued an official recall like its counterparts in the USA and Canada. The company began offering replacements for users in Canada and Singapore last week and is set to start soon in other nations including Taiwan, Mexico, New Zealand the United Arab Emirates.
