Samsung to ease online payments with new app
Word on the street is that Samsung Pay is going to be rolling out a web-based option as soon as next month, which means that the option will be available for people that have Android phones – and iOS devices, too. According to sources within the IT and financial industries, the company plans for the new app to be free and work on all Android devices as well as Apple’s iPhone. It won’t function the same way Samsung Pay does on most of its smartphones, which allow you to tap your device near a magnetic card reader and make purchases, but rather is created to work in the browser. Several South Korean credit card companies are already said to be on board, including Samsung Card, Lotte Card, and Hana Card.

Instead Samsung is reported to be releasing Samsung Pay Mini as an app for iOS and Android, a service exclusively for online transactions – something it now doesn’t offer. The report puts this down to the existing app’s “complicated procedures”. Hence, a dedicated online payment gateway!
We’ve asked Samsung for comment on this matter, and we’ll update this article with any response.
Samsung filed a countersuit against Apple in April 21, 2011, just four days after Apple first launched a patent infringement suit with the USA federal court of the Northern District of California. A British launch was rumoured for May, but that’s looking unlikely right now.
If you are a current Samsung Pay user, could you see yourself using Samsung Pay for more online desktop purchases?

It won’t let you use Samsung Pay at a register with an iPhone, but you could use Samsung Pay to buy things from third-party websites on the iOS device, if that’s something you’d want to do.
