Samsung to Produce World’s First Smart Chip for Health Wearables

When you mention the name Samsung, most of us would think of the extremely advanced TV sets that they come up with, curved screen and all, not to mention their famous smartphone family – the Galaxy range, which one of the latest models would be the Samsung Galaxy S6 (and the S6 edge, although the “plus” models have since been introduced, of course). Samsung has announced its new Bio-Processor, which will allow manufacturers to quickly design and build wearables that are smaller while also reducing the number of internal electronic components needed.

The problem came to light after researchers at Virginia Polytechnic Institute found evidence that city water contained high lead levels (202 DEN A-13, 10/20/15).

Samsung Electronics will be the first in the world to mass-produce an all-in-one system logic chip called a Bio-Processor for health tracking products, the chipmaker said on Tuesday.

Braden Holtby was locked in from the start of the game, making save after save look easier and easier. “That’s just our mindset”. For the first time since the opening night of the season, the Canadiens are not in first place in the Atlantic Division.

“As IT products continue to evolve and consumers get more conscious about their health, the market for health care devices is also soaring”, said Heo Koo, vice president of Samsung’s system LSI marketing team. With more and more people wanting to monitor fitness and manage their health, Hur expects the processor to be popular with device makers. The all-in-one chip is already in mass production and new products featuring the technology are expected early next year. The Bio-Processor is a processor with built-in power management, memory, a digital signal processor, and a micro-controller, and it is capable of measuring data from biosensors without using any other processors.

Or maybe the Bengals are just Bengaling, the way they’ve tended to flop in crunch time year after year under coach Marvin Lewis. Marshall hurt his ankle in the fourth quarter against Cincinnati, got it re-taped, but ended up leaving the game again.

According to reports, Samsung’s new Bio-Processor will likely improve tracker’s reliability as it can remove the need for external processing, thereby pushing all the data gathered in real time to deliver more accurate results.

Samsung is aiming to add more functionality and efficiency to wearable health monitors with a new chip – the Bio-Processor – that integrates five different sensors to track heart rate, skin temperature, body fat, skeletal mass, and sweat. A particularly attractive quality of the Samsung Bio-Processor is that it is only about a quarter of the size of the discrete parts it replaces; an important factor in the wearables market.

While the need of heart rate monitoring alone may have been compelling in the past, the ability to measure a variety of fitness data is required for wearable products these days.
