Our sister site Gizmodo, who first reported the news, were told by the Samsung Australia representative that “shipments of Galaxy Note 7 are being temporarily delayed for additional quality assurance inspections”.

Yonhap News said five to six explosions had been reported. However, more recent reports suggest that the company not only stopped shipping Note7s, it may also offer a recall or battery replacement option to all South Korean customer.

Could it be exploding batteries?

Amid growing concerns among consumers, Samsung is considering recalling all the Note phones and exchanging the battery free of charge.

The company, however, did not specify which markets will be affected by the delay and for how long the hold on shipments will be enforced.

A Samsung spokesman said “it was discussing the issue of Note 7 internally” and will make an announcement soon. Samsung Electronics on Thursday after working-level discussion tentatively concluded that a defect in the battery is blamed for the explosion.

His remarks suggested that Samsung may recall all of the Galaxy Note 7 phablets sold at home and overseas.

Once it became apparent that shipments of Samsung’s newest flagship devices were delayed, investors drove the company’s stock down to a two-week low, in the process knocking $7 billion off its market value.

“My boyfriend’s Galaxy Note 7 exploded while charging at night”, the Ppomppu user wrote, according to Business Korea. However, the possibility that it just might spontaneously combust is sure to be a turnoff for many potential buyers, at least for the time being. For this year, the high-demand-low-supply problem is mainly the cause of delay.
