Samsung to recall Galaxy Note 7 off battery issue

Sprint customers who bought a Note 7 can get a similar device to use until Samsung resolves the battery issue and makes replacements available. “Now Samsung has announced its own exchange programme, which will provide customers with a new device as soon as next week”, The Verge reported. Thankfully there are yet to be any reported injuries associated with the potentially harmful Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

To date, there have been 35 cases that have been reported globally (none have been reported in New Zealand) and we are now conducting a thorough inspection with our suppliers to identify possible affected batteries in the market. “We are in the process of determining the exchange process for our customers and how they can replace their current Note7 as quickly as possible”, the company said in a statement.

Samsung says it has sold 2.5 million phones so far. Samsung had started the Galaxy Note 7 in the last month in India at a value of Rs 59,900. ” Samsung initiated the recall on Friday following 35 reports of explosion, fire and other battery-related issues”. Some units were said to have faulty power packs causing them to catch fire or explode – a serious issue regardless of the manufacturer.

Samsung is replacing everyone’s devices for no charge. Now the company has confirmed to the Wall Street Journal that it’s recalling all of the phones due to a defect in the device’s battery. “Samsung is fully committed to providing the highest quality products to our consumers”, the company said in a statement.

Drexel added that images of burning Galaxy Note7 devices in the media “will cause some damage” to Samsung’s brand.
