Samsung Unleashes Software Update For Their Gear S2

Eventually, we’ll have smart wearables that figure out what we want to do without needing direct input and perhaps also some form of neural interfaces, but for now, they need something twiddle-able to work and to complement the occasional prod on the touch screen. The experience does make you feel as if users are there as the thrill happens.

You really would be basing any purchase on look and feel. Thankfully, instead of leaving consumers completely in the dark, Samsung has reached out to a single person on Twitter who asked nicely, declaring that Samsung Pay support for the Gear S2 won’t be arriving until 2016. It supports Samsung’s wide range of 2015 smartphones including the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge plus and Galaxy Note 5 Action Bowling is just one of a number of new titles that have been released for the kit in recent weeks, with developers such as Ustwo Games, CCP Games and more also making initial releases for it.

Features: Touchscreen, heart rate monitor, rotating watch face to move through apps, voice input, fitness tracking. Beyond the Tizen OS under the hood, which seems to work well and quickly, the big new feature is the bezel around the watch face, which you rotate to navigate between apps, widgets and screens. Stay tuned for more information.

Battery life is still annoying and the lack of Global Positioning System means every time you go for a run you’ll have to strap a smartphone to your body to get accurate data. As Variety reports, Gone will be available for viewing within Samsung’s Milk VR video app on December 15.

So do these new features make this a must-have smartwatch? Compare the bulbous original Gear to the slick round Gear S2 and it is a much better product.

The Gear S2 is also the first Samsung smartwatch that can be linked with rival smartphones including devices from LG, Sony and HTC, although don’t get too excited if you’re an Apple fan as the iPhone doesn’t join the S2 party.
