Samsung unveils world’s first wireless mobile charging monitor

If you love the idea of wireless charging but hate the idea of having a wireless plate or wireless charging mat taking up space on your table, Samsung might have the answer for you.

The full-HD monitors are available in 24-inch (S24E370DL) and 27-inch (S27E370DS) displays and feature AMD’s anti-flicker gaming tech and 178-degree viewing angles.

The charging area is on the stand for the monitor, and an LED lights up when it’s in use. The monitor’s game mode detects changes in scenes and instantly corrects blurry images, enhances colors and alters contrast for improved visibility.

Samsung’s SE370 monitor works with all mobile devices that use the leading Qi wireless charging standard, which was developed by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). The screen will not distort graphics with stutter and lag and has a response time of 4 milliseconds, Samsung said. There is also an Eco Saving Plus mode to reduce energy consumption by 10 per cent. This clearly signalled that Samsung was ready to throw its considerable weight behind a wireless charging future. Those basic screen specs give me hope that the price will be reasonable – otherwise, you’re probably still better off getting that Ikea wirelessly charging lamp. Unfortunately pricing and availability of the Samsung SE370 has not been confirmed by Samsung just yet. Following a decision earlier this year, however, the two organizations announced their merger in June, with a new name yet to be decided.

Monitors are, quite frankly, the dullest of the boring when it comes to new technology.
