Samsung will have 500000 Galaxy Note 7 replacements in stores Wednesday

It’s unclear if the availability of a replacement device will help Samsung keep Note 7 customers from defecting to other Android options or even the new iPhone 7.

“Similarly, all those responsible for searching or screening checked-in baggage are expected to intensify the procedures to identify possible checked-in Samsung Galaxy Note 7”. The Consumer Product Safety Commission in the US has urged all consumers who bought a Note 7 to replace them.

That represents roughly half the phones recalled due to a fire hazard that were sold in the U.S. Two-and-a-half million of the phones were recalled worldwide.

US hazardous material regulations prohibit air cargo shipments of recalled or defective lithium batteries and lithium battery-powered devices, and passengers may not turn on or charge the devices when they carry them on board a plane.

“It will be recalled that Samsung has recalled over 2.5 million Galaxy Note 7 devices”. Reportedly, one million Galaxy Note 7 phablets were rung up in the USA before the recall. This alert will appear every time that the Note 7 is powered on and when it’s charging.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued the recall last week, following a voluntary recall from Samsung.

The recall has been helter-skelter as Samsung announced the recall ahead of coordination with us regulators.

The new phones will be accompanied by a software update that, when installed on one of the new devices, shows a green battery icon on the top right of the phone’s screen to let users know the device is indeed the new one with an unaffected battery.
