Memorial services for some of the 14 people killed in the mass shooting at a California social services center have been scheduled to begin Friday.

An unidentified police officer put out Farook’s name because Farook had left the luncheon “out of the blue” 20 minutes before the shooting, “seemed nervous”, and matched the description of one of the attackers, according to audio recordings posted by The Press-Enterprise newspaper of Riverside.
The two assault rifles used in the attack had been legally purchased by an old friend of Farook’s, Enrique Marquez, authorities said, but they are still trying to determine how the couple got the weapons.
Farook’s family have said they were at a loss to explain the couple’s rampage and have added that though both were devout Muslims, there was no indication they had become radicalized.
Authorities also discovered 19 pipes in the couple’s home in Redlands, California, that could be turned into bombs, Bowdich said.
It also emerged this weekend that during a raid of Farook and Malik’s home, the Federal Bureau of Investigation removed a number of items, including “Christmas lights”, – a potential component for certain explosive devices as described in an al Qaeda magazine.
In an interview with the Italian daily La Stampa, however, Farook’s father said his son approved of IS ideology and was fixated on Israel.
While the couple may have been inspired by Islamic State, U.S. government sources last week said there was no evidence their attack was directed by the militant group, or that the organization even knew who they were.

But despite the security increase, San Bernardino Board of Supervisor Josie Gonzales said today, “No act of terrorism anywhere… will invest fear”.
Malik attended a religious school in the Pakistani city of Multan briefly between 2013 and 2014 but didn’t receive a diploma, Farhat Hashmi, founder of Al-Huda International Seminary, said in a statement on her website.
Hashmi says “it seems” Malik “was unable to understand the attractive message” of the Quran.

The details came out as thousands of San Bernardino County employees went back to work for the first time since Syed Farook, 28, and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, 29, launched their rampage five days earlier. Many parishioners said they would reach deep into their faith to find some way to forgive.
