San Diego State’s AD Jim Sterk leaving for Missouri
Missouri intends to hire Jim Sterk as its new athletic director, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Star on Monday.

Sterk took over on Montezuma Mesa in 2010 and under his guidance the Aztecs have enjoyed the best athletics run in school history.
Head coach Steve Fisher and Athletic Director Jim Sterk of the San Diego State Aztecs celebrate with the trophy after winning the MW Conference during post game celebrations after the game against the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels at Viejas Arena on March 5, 2016 in San Diego, California. He also serves as a member of the NCAA Division I men’s basketball committee.
Sterk, 60, is a native of Washington state and most of his ties are to the Northwest or the west coast. He will replace Mack Rhoades, who resigned last month to become the AD at Baylor. That year was a rather eventful one as he faced a boycott from the Tigers football team in support of a student who was on a hunger strike amid protests on campus. Rhoades hired defensive coordinator Barry Odom to fill Pinkel’s position.

After an eventful few months, if this report is indeed correct, hopefully Mizzou Athletics has found some continuity and will have an AD lead them out of the darkness that they now find themselves enveloped in. A Title IX investigation into Earleywine was recently completed and concluded that Earleywine did not violate any Title IX laws.
