Maybe it was just a coincidence the Los Angeles Dodgers happened to be in town, or maybe the trophy party was timed by the Giants as if to say to their Southern California rivals, “You haven’t done anything yet”.

Seager drove in the run with a two-out single after left fielder Carl Crawford had singled and stolen second base. Byrd advanced to second base on a single by Kelby Tomlinson, which set up a two-run double by Trevor Brown, the No. 8 hitter.

San Francisco Giants’ Marlon Byrd, right, celebrates with teammates… Brown worked a walk to lead off the bottom of the 10th and went to second on Kevin Frandsen’s bunt, but Angel Pagan lined out to center and Jarrett Parker grounded out.

Los Angeles (87-68) entered its previous series having defeated Colorado in 11 of their 16 meetings in 2015, but the Rockies pounded the Dodgers for 27 runs over the weekend to sweep the division leaders.

The Giants are 7-0 against the Dodgers at AT&T Park this season, and the Dodgers have scored two runs in their past 45 innings here, so unless they can solve the mystery of this building, things could get a little squirrelly.

“We got a few great contributions from young guys, and this team has done a good job not dwelling on (players) we’re missing”, Bochy said.

“For a few reason, these odd years really hurt us as far as the injuries”.

After the Dodgers had come from behind to forge a 2-2 tie against the Giants bullpen in the top of the ninth inning, the Giants rallied for the must-win in the last of the 12th after Byrd greeted right-hander Yimi Garcia (3-5), the seventh L.A. pitcher, with a single. The Dodgers scattered five players around the infield, but it was no defense for De Aza’s line drive to left field, which allowed Byrd to tag up and score easily. San Francisco posted its third win in a row to pull within five games of Los Angeles with six remaining. The Dodgers went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position Monday, but so did the Giants.

The Dodgers try to uncork a few bubbly again on Tuesday night, this time with Clayton Kershaw on the mound against Madison Bumgarner, a showdown of the highest order. The Cubs are most likely headed for the NL wild-card game and are hoping to edge out Pittsburgh – or possibly St. Louis – for hosting rights in the contest. Kelby Tomlinson singled past Seager at short to put runners on first and second for Brown. He felt good physically with the extra time between starts.

Greinke was lifted for a pinch hitter and limited to seven innings, allowing a pair of runs on four hits and three walks, striking out seven.

The Dodgers flew into San Francisco lugging an 0-6 record at AT&T Park.

Giants closer Santiago Casilla allowed the Dodgers to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth after being called upon with two on and no outs. Beat the Giants once and the Dodgers are division champions for the third consecutive season.
