Sanchez fires Arsenal to win over United

In his past 3 games in all competitions Sanchez has scored 6 goals, and he has 1 assist.

He is also a great admirer of Arsenal’s style, though, and has no doubt Arsene Wenger’s men are capable of making a significant response to their 3-2 home loss to Olympiacos on Tuesday.

Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil in particular stood out as they carved through United’s helpless defence to hand the Gunners just their second Premier League victory over United since 2008.

To win in a big game is always a statement and we are in it [the title race].

“We were top of the league (before the weekend), so I was surprised”.

He said: “My biggest concern is that the players are flying out from London because they have to go to their national teams, so we can not prepare for the match against Everton”.

Left back Nacho Monreal was full of praise for team mate Sanchez, who has scored six goals in his last three games.

“The work ethic of the whole team was brilliant today and that’s what we need to keep doing throughout the whole season to be successful”. I have not seen that, when you are top of the league [as United were at the beginning of the weekend].

And when asked about that on Thursday with a view to the clash with Arsenal, who played their Champions League game this week a day earlier than United, Van Gaal said: “The solution is recovery – recovery, recovery, recovery”.

“We were good, we started strong to press to win the ball and to be quick in transition”.

“This is the most important thing for the team”.

“It’s down to these players to recognise all of this & move forward relentlessly because they have shown what they are capable of in this game….”, the former defender wrote on his Facebook account.

It was revealed at the start of the season that Carrick and club captain Wayne Rooney had approached Van Gaal as they were concerned that the dressing room was “flat”.

“The way we started was so without emotion and that kind of stuff – you can not expect that”.
