Sanchez spokesman Luis Vizcaino said Wednesday that Sanchez has accepted the October 5 debate, sponsored by KABC-TV, the Edmund G. News of the debate was first reported by the San Francisco Chronicle. Harris had already accepted invitations to participate in the Los Angeles debate as well as a debate proposed for September 20 in Sacramento. On Tuesday, she challenged Harris to a series of four debates, all in Los Angeles.

“We’re holding the date open”, Van Dyke said.

Sanchez, said two head-to-head debates would not suffice, and refused to participate in the Sacramento event. The first debate is scheduled to take place at California State University Los Angeles on October 5. But Harris rejected those.

Harris is sticking with her initial plan, while the Sanchez campaign says Harris is “closing the door” on voters.
