This all-star game will mark Donaldson’s third straight appearance after representing Toronto last season and Oakland in 2014.
Aaron Sanchez picked up the win allowing just one run on three hits over eight innings of work.
Dickey (6-9) scattered four hits, three walks and two runs over seven innings.
In 34 games last season (28 as a starter), Estrada had a 13-8 record with a 3.13 ERA.
“I had a good release point for it, I was changing speeds with it and it was in the strike zone”, Dickey said.
Cheslor Cuthbert hit a 2 run home run for the Royals and also doubled in a run in the 9th. Carlos Delgado had 76 in 2003. They open their second-half schedule with five games on the road.
Royals 1B Eric Hosmer and C Salvador Perez will start the All-Star Game for the AL. Michael Saunders remains a voting candidate for the final spot on the American League roster. The Royals selected RHP Brooks Pounders from Triple-A Omaha and designated LHP Tyler Olson for assignment. Righty Ian Kennedy (6-7, 4.04 ERA) counters for the Royals.
In all, 14 of his 17 total starts have been quality starts, tying him for the most in baseball with San Francisco’s Madison Bumgarner, L.A. Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw and Jon Lester of the Chicago Cubs.

Earlier in the evening it was announced that Donaldson, Edwin Encarnacion, and Marco Estrada had been elected to the upcoming MLB All-Star Game. He was even better in the playoffs, especially in games where the Blue Jays needed him to be at his best.
