Sanders And Clinton To Rally Together In New Hampshire

The phrasing is significant, in that it references both to Clinton’s general-election campaign slogan, “Stronger Together”, and the animating issue and the heart of Sanders primary bid – income inequality.

Sanders, who has admitted that he isn’t likely to become the Democratic Party’s nominee, has not officially suspended his campaign, and his campaign has remained tight-lipped on whether he will endorse his rival.

“The nomination is not the only aspect of what politics is about”, Sanders said on CNN last week when asked about his refusal to suspend his campaign. Instead, he chose to continue his campaign as leverage to win concessions on his progressive policy agenda and reforms to the Democratic Party’s nominating process. Sanders’ endorsement of Clinton, however, could prove a controversial move among his most fervent supporters.

Sanders eventually made a decision to come aboard after pushing the Democratic Party platform left on a number of issues, including on minimum wage, and convincing Clinton to adopt a more robust college affordability plan.

The document — a formal declaration of the party’s positions — includes language on breaking up “too-big-to fail” banks, a $15-an-hour minimum wage, a price on carbon and decriminalization of marijuana.

Sanders will join Clinton Tuesday morning at a local high school in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, reports ABC News.

Sanders has never suggested that he would run independent and has again and again said that the most important goal is keeping Donald Trump elected – and if that means he has to encourage voters to cast a ballot for Clinton, then so be it. He and Clinton melded their college affordability and health care plans together to form proposals that were better than each candidate had put forward on their own.

Sanders’ team on Saturday lost a fight to amend the platform to say the Trans-Pacific Partnership shouldn’t get a congressional vote.
