Sanders beats Hillary Clinton in West Virginia

Ms Clinton won the Democratic primary in Nebraska, but the victory does not take her any closer to clinching her party’s nomination.

On the flip side, Clinton has won the support of voters 45 and older in all states except Vermont and New Hampshire.

A victory by Sanders over Clinton on Tuesday in West Virginia could boost his campaign in advance of June 7 contests in which almost 700 delegates are at stake, including 475 in California, where Sanders is now focusing his efforts. “I know you’re careful about what you say because everyone in the world is listening”. It’s an especially dramatic slide for Clinton since she won the state by 41 points against then-Senator Barack Obama in 2008.

Edward Milam, of Cross Lanes, West Virginia, is a self-described socialist who gave money to the Sanders campaign but his vote Tuesday to Clinton. “And what the people of West Virginia said tonight, and I believe the people of Oregon and Kentucky will say next week, is that we need an economy that works for all of us, not just the 1 percent”, Sanders told a supporters at a rally in Oregon Tuesday evening.

Sanders’ victory, while impressive, is largely a moral one.

Clinton still has a commanding lead in the national race, but with Sanders still taking the odd state here and there, the former secretary of state won’t be able to relax.

Mr Trump, meanwhile, will pad his delegate total with a majority share of West Virginia’s 34 delegates.

If Clinton wins here she should be out of reach for Sanders. “But we are used to fighting uphill climbs”. “It is state poll, after state poll, after state poll”. The results among all those voting in each contest have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 5 percentage points in West Virginia and plus or minus 5 percentage points in Nebraska.

The event was Clinton’s first public campaign stop in New Jersey since she launched her presidential bid.

Following the rally, Clinton traveled north to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where she discussed healthcare issues with several of the hospital’s doctors, nurses and staff. However, her campaign is aware of the fact that winning the three key states mentioned about will be a hard job. There, she trained her focus on Trump.

“If I am so fortunate enough to be the nominee, I’m looking forward to debating Donald Trump come the fall”, she said in Louisville.

His tax plan, which carries a $10 trillion sticker price, has been under scrutiny as he has worked to tone down remarks about raising taxes on wealthy Americans, saying the rich might simply get a smaller tax cut than he originally proposed.

Ryan said the party needs a “real unification” and must be at full strength to win the presidential election.

His last remaining rivals in the Republican race, Ted Cruz and John Kasich dropped out last week but remained on the ballot.
