Sanders Closes the Gap on Clinton – and Cleans Up Against the GOP

Bernie Sanders, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll released Friday, just days before the primary in New Hampshire, where Sanders already leads Clinton by 30 points. Mr Sanders responded that Ms. Clinton was in thrall to vested interests evidenced by the large scale contributions to her campaign from Wall Street banks, drug companies and other special interests and that she would not be able to achieve real change.

Clinton had been asked on Wednesday why she accepted $675,000 for three speeches from the financial firm Goldman Sachs. He’s cited her ties to Wall Street and a well-funded super PAC as evidence of her shortcomings as a true liberal champion. “Our campaign, up to now, has shown that we can create an enormous amount of enthusiasm from working people, from young people, who will get involved in the political process”.

Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton began their post-debate campaigns Friday by re-hitting major themes and continuing the argument over who would be the best chief executive. While one of the debate’s most intense confrontations arguably stemmed from Clinton’s accusation that Sanders’ campaign was engaged in an “artful smear” of Clinton’s relationship with Wall Street, both agreed to avoid dwelling on media scandals involving the two candidates.

The latest debate offered fresh evidence of how the race for the nomination, once considered a sure bet for Clinton, has tightened in recent weeks.

Most voters would still place money on Clinton securing the Democratic nomination, but with Sanders’ momentum, they would perhaps not wager quite as much.
