Sanders: ‘do not moan to me about Hillary Clinton’s problems’

It’s too late for Bernie Sanders to become the Democratic nominee simply by besting Hillary Clinton at the ballot box, but his latest plan to take her on at the Democratic convention in Philadelphia could also prove to be a dead end despite recent wins in IN and West Virginia.

“I think you’ve got to let this play out a little bit, you know”, Carville told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program. “I think she handles herself well. And he’s married that with a kind of populism and dissatisfaction with the status quo that is both more liberal than the mainstream Democratic party and, in some cases, more conservative than the mainstream Democratic party”. He also wants to reshape the Democratic Party platform to promote his signature items like government-run health insurance, breaking up the big banks and tuition-free public college, and alter the rules for nomination contests to allow more open primaries. Clinton is heavily favored to win a majority of the delegates, especially after a preliminary report issued a half-hour before the registration deadline showed more of her supporters had signed in.

Asked about the possibility of Clinton naming Sanders as her vice presidential running mate, Skelley said: “A Clinton-Sanders ticket seems very unlikely”.

Clinton’s campaign is hiring staff and opening field offices in MI, although Dillon said that, until recently, the protracted Democratic primary has delayed any serious organizing efforts by national Democrats.

The former secretary of state is engaged in a mop-up operation against Sanders – she has an insurmountable lead in national convention delegates – but he has been a stubborn opponent.

“Clinton realized the damage that could be done to the party – and perhaps herself – so she didn’t”, the Washington Post noted of her decision not to push for a contested convention then.

“I don’t care about what he says about me”, she said of Trump in Louisville, Kentucky, on Tuesday night.

“I look at them and I say in a country of over 330 million people, these are the best we could find?”

“Undoubtedly, Trump has some work to do to better unify his party going toward November”.

“I will try to unify our country”, she said during a rally at Camden County College in Blackwood.

For all the talk about GOP disunity, though, Trump gets nearly exactly as much support from Republicans as Clinton gets from Democrats. Clinton lead Trump 47% to 41% when Johnson is not included. Michigan Democrats say that Trump poses some “challenges and opportunities” that make this year different. They will net Mr Trump around another 100 delegates, edging him closer to the 1,237 he needs to make his nomination as Republican candidate certain.
