Sanders expected to endorse Clinton on Tuesday, reports say
Elizabeth Warren stepped in to unify the party behind its presumptive nominee.

In 2008, Clinton and then-senator Barack Obama held their first large joint rally in Unity, N.H., after Clinton conceded her bid for the Democratic nomination.
The Vermont senator went out to call his colleague from MA “one of the outstanding members of the United States Senate”. Sanders’ campaign has indicated in the past that he wants to be able to influence the party’s platform by moving it to the left, as opposed to what would likely be a more centrist platform under Clinton’s candidacy, without Sanders’ influence.
Sanders recently faced boos during a meeting with House Democrats, reportedly because he repeated his intention to remain in the race through the convention, urging Democrats to understand that “the goal is to transform America”, not merely “to win elections”.
Asked whether FBI Director James Comey’s critique of Clinton’s email practices could have made a difference in the outcome of the Democratic primary, Sanders said, simply, “I have no idea”. Jim Hightower, the progressive author and Sanders delegate from Texas, intends to introduce language stating that “it is the policy of the Democratic Party that the Trans-Pacific Partnership must not get a vote in this Congress or in future sessions of Congress”.
The platform is a nonbinding document that serves as a guidepost for the party.
Sanders declined to say whether he could embrace Sen.
Additionally, a plurality of Sanders primary voters who are now supporting Clinton say that their general election vote has more to do with supporting Clinton than opposing Trump. But he says the party will ultimately unite.
Top aides to both candidates have been practicing shuttle diplomacy, the Clinton camp anxious to give enough nods to Sanders on party platform issues to move the Vermont senator from saying he would vote to saying he would endorse her. The Democrat was not authorized to discuss the plans and spoke on condition of anonymity.
Sanders himself, as he was losing to Clinton in the delegate and popular vote fight, was pointing to general election polls that showed him performing better against Trump than the former secretary of state, whose email scandal had plagued her campaign for over a year.
But his campaign insisted Sanders didnt mean the comments as a formal endorsement of Clinton.
For many Democrats, the endorsement is overdue.
By this week, Democrats were running out of patience.
Among Clinton supporters, blacks (59%) express some of the highest levels of strong support for her.

Sanders spokesman Michael Briggs would not confirm reports of a scheduled endorsement, telling USA TODAY: “We are continuing to have conversations with Secretary Clinton’s campaign and look forward to reaching a result that everybody’s happy with. Sen”.
