Sanders fans make scene in neon green

Powerful forces are threatening to pull us apart. “Let me tell you, it was tough, because Hillary’s tough”. He’d be unsafe around the world, said former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta. The shoot-from-the-hip billionaire believes he can make headway in those states with blue-collar white men, a demographic that has eluded Clinton and was unlikely to be swayed by a convention that heavily celebrated racial and gender diversity.

Trump fired back at the largely optimistic tone of Obama and other Democratic speakers who this week have taken exception to Trump’s campaign slogan pledging to “Make America Great Again”.

Trump had boasted last week that “no one would watch” the Democratic National Convention and hailed the ratings of the Republican convention on Twitter.

“He’s offering empty promises”. “The choice is clear”.

SnapshotHillary Clinton hugs President Barack Obama as she arrives onstage at the end of his speech on the third night of the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

“But you know what?” he added. Her speech on Thursday is a flawless opportunity to explain why they should vote for her.

Michelle Obama said, in 2008: “And Barack and I were raised with so numerous same values: like, you work hard for what you want in life, that your word is your bond, that you do what you say you’re going to do, that you treat people with dignity and respect, even if you don’t know them and even if you don’t agree with them”.

With the general election in full swing, Clinton must find a way to fix that. A son of Scranton who rides Amtrak and often comes off like an over-exuberant uncle, Biden might be the best messenger Democrats have for their attacks on Trump’s working class credentials – and he delivered one of the most rousing speeches of his long career.

Contention from the primaries has had a strong presence throughout the convention. “I would really like to see her win”.

And then when you come back, it will say D-Vt? “Your cause is our cause”. Tim Kaine, who addressed the convention Wednesday.

Clinton aides dismissed the protests as little more than a few holdouts. Democratic strategists are concerned that the youth and the African-American voters may not be as enthusiastic as they were for Mr. Obama and the President specifically addressed the supporters of Bernie Sanders. “Through every victory and every setback”, he declared, “I’ve insisted that change is never easy, and never quick, that we wouldn’t meet all of our challenges in one term, or one presidency, or even in one lifetime”. The only child of Hillary and Bill Clinton got visibly choked up on Tuesday when her mom made history as the first female presidential nominee for a major party.

Former Rep. Barbara Kennelly, whose father John Bailey dominated CT politics for years and once headed the Democratic National Committee, said there is a need to change the system, but not in the way Sanders wants. Clinton sought to reach beyond the Democratic base, particularly to moderate Republicans unnerved by Trump.

Trump is intemperate and thin-skinned, prone to lashing out in response to perceived slights, so Clinton reminded the public about the importance of a steady hand.

“I was elected as an independent; I’ll stay two years more as an independent”, Mr. Sanders said. I worked for Ronald Reagan.
