Sanders leads Clinton in California Democratic poll
But given that Clinton has outpaced Sanders in the popular vote and delegates won, that would never happen, said Bob Mulholland, a longtime Democratic Party strategist and one of 73 California superdelegates.

“It is extremely unlikely that Secretary Clinton will have the requisite number of pledged delegates to claim victory on Tuesday night”, Sanders said.
“I’ve always said I’m going to support the candidate that wins the majority of pledged delegates and who ever that ends up being, whether it’s Sen”. While its pool of delegates is small, the island chain took on more importance as Clinton gets closer to clinching the nomination.
Bernie Sanders’ political revolution – and how far he’s willing to take his presidential campaign – may hinge on the outcome of the California primary Tuesday, with Hillary Clinton poised to clinch the Democratic nomination in the coming days.
Clinton is a frontrunner for the Democratic nomination, with 2,313 delegates, of whom 1,769 are pledged.
Jason Stein covers the state Capitol and is the author with his colleague Patrick Marley of “More than They Bargained For: Scott Walker, Unions and the Fight for Wisconsin”.
He will compete in the District of Columbia primary on June 14, the final contest.
The poll confirms that the Vermont senator enjoys the support of younger voters by huge margins in advance of Tuesday’s primary even among Latinos and Asians, many of whom come from a large pool of voters who have registered for the first time in the weeks before the election. Obama was formally nominated at the party’s convention in August.
Clinton will likely mount an aggressive campaign against her challenger, Donald Trump.
Democrats have several ways to exert leverage over Sanders. Elizabeth Warren, who has stayed neutral in the primaries, could help bridge the gap between Sanders and Clinton loyalists.
“It’s important that immigrant workers get treated fairly”, Sanders said, adding that paying anybody lower than the minimum wage “is a part of the race to the bottom”. But if Sanders loses California, he’s likely to face pressure to drop out.
Sanders made a campaign trip to Puerto Rico last month and has been airing television ads there.
“My guess is by the time we have finished with this campaign we will have spoken to 250,000 Californians”, Sanders said during a Friday news conference in Berkeley.

Though Sanders’ chances of winning the nomination now rest entirely in the hands of party members and elected officials, he said the current system is unfair and that he’ll work to change the future Democratic nominating process.
