Sanders’ long-shot bid to clinch Democratic nomination
The door began to close on Bernie Sanders’ chances to win the Democratic presidential nomination back in February when he lost the SC primary by 46 percentage points. “The convention will be a contested contest”, he said. However, when counting the superdelegates, Clinton holds a big lead with more than 500 to Sanders’ 39.

No. It’s not clear if Sanders means that he should get proportional support – for instance, 60 percent of the superdelegates in a state if he wins 60 percent of the vote – or if he is entitled to all the state’s superdelegates even if he wins a small majority of the state’s popular vote.
There was one vote for the nomination, won by then Senator Barack Obama. So Sanders is banking on hundreds of superdelegates to change their public support from Clinton to him.
Of Indiana’s Democratic delegates, 83 are allocated proportionally and there are nine others that are superdelegates, who can wait until the summer convention in Philadelphia to pledge their support to a candidate.
John Stoehr, contributor for U.S. News World Report, claims that “Bernie’s Revolution Has No Future” and dismisses arguments that Sanders is bringing about the future of the Democratic Party.
For all there is to celebrate about Bernie Sanders engagement with young voters, there’s also a harsh reality: Young people don’t vote.
There are a few different plausible explanations for what might be going on here, according to Matt Grossmann, a political scientist at the University of MI.
“I think based on the speech, you’d have somebody who doesn’t understand the difference between a business negotiation and a negotiation with sovereign powers”, Gates, who has worked for both Republican and Democratic presidents, replied. I think I’m entitled to those superdelegates.
It would be helpful not only for Democrats but for those of us trying to keep score to clearly understand the finish line for each of the two candidates.
Well, it’s true the 712 Democratic superdelegates are going to play an important role in the nomination process. Forty percent of those who bought the hot pink passes were new donors.
One Sanders supporter, for instance, started a “Superdelegate List”, posting the names and phone numbers of superdelegates for targeted lobbying. Sanders’ backers are more likely to say the Party will remain divided, 31% say so vs. 15% among Clinton supporters.
In an interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo on “New Day”, the Manhattan billionaire called the statement “very nasty” toward men and said “the Indians” had “gone wild” in response.

It would, however, garner Sanders additional delegates, which could help him influence Clinton’s platform at the convention in July.
