Sanders pledges to work with Clinton to defeat Trump

Warren, a hero of progressive Democrats, is the latest party leader to fall in line behind Clinton after she clinched the requisite number of delegates earlier this week over rival Bernie Sanders.

In a video posted on Clinton’s Facebook page, Mr. Obama said, “I don’t think there’s ever been someone so qualified to hold this office”. “I am ready to get in this fight and work my heart out for Hillary Clinton to be the President of the United States”. “Sanders, his campaign, and the vigorous debate that we’ve had about how to raise incomes, reduce inequality, and increase upward mobility, have been very good for the Democratic Party and for America”, Clinton said. And she won because she’s a fighter, she’s out there, she’s tough.

Although he stopped short of endorsing Clinton, the Vermont senator told reporters he planned to press for his “issues” – rather than victory – at the party’s July convention and would meet with Clinton “in the near future” to discuss ways to defeat Mr Trump.

Warren’s endorsement comes after months of silence regarding the race between Clinton and Sanders.

“I am fired up and I can not wait to get out there and campaign for Hillary”, Obama said.

“These are the issues we will take to the Democratic convention”, he said.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) has endorsed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for president. Obama sought to reassure Democrats that Clinton shares their values and is ready for the job. In the conversation with Sanders, it was reported that Obama asked him to wind down his campaign so that they could successfully unite the party and defeat Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, in the general election this November.

Look, I know how hard this job can be.

The party’s delicate handling of the Vermont senator reflected Sanders supporters’ deep distrust of the Democratic establishment and its meddling in the primary. Mr Trump has said he welcomes Mr Sanders’ voters “with open arms”.

“It is absolutely a joy and an honor that President Obama and I over the years have gone from fierce competitors to true friends”, Clinton told Reuters in an interview.

In a taping of “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, Obama said he was hopeful that the party will “pull things together”.
