Sanders says he will work with Clinton to defeat Trump, transform party
Hillary Clinton is the presumptive nominee of the Democratic Party, ahead of the convention in July. “The time is long overdue for a fundamental transformation of the Democratic Party”.

Sanders, who has resisted pressure to exit the race and back Clinton in a show of party unity since she clinched the Democratic nomination last week, will address supporters nationwide on a video live stream on Thursday night.
Mr Sanders told his political followers online that the major task they face is to “make certain” Mr Trump is defeated.
Sanders and his wife, Jane O’Meara Sanders, climbed into SUVs as the last light faded in Burlington, ignoring reporters’ shouted questions about a potential Clinton endorsement. Overall, he spoke of Clinton more as a partner than as an adversary.
What has upset me, and what I think is – I wouldn’t use the word rigged, because we knew what the rules were – but what is really dumb is that you have closed primaries, like in NY state, where three million people who are Democrats or Republicans could not participate, where you have situation where over 400 superdelegates came on board Clinton’s campaign before anybody else was in the race, eight months before the first vote was cast. Some of his closest allies are already giving up on his fight for the White House. While she will remain in her position as the party’s chairwoman, at least through the convention next month in Philadelphia, her role diminishes with the Clinton campaign’s takeover of the committee. “And that means she’s going to have to address their needs”. It will be far more hard if even his allies desert him.
Huffington Post columnist H.A. Goodman said the possibility of this honest carrying out is looking more and more plausible with the slow bleed of Clinton’s emails into the public’s eye which is likely to force the hand of FBI Director James Comey to start indictment process soon.
But he stressed that he was prepared to work with his rival in order to best presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump. Each campaign put out a positive assessment of the meeting afterward. It remains unclear what the outcome of negotiations between the campaigns will ultimately be, and whether it will stick.
In the aftermath the Orlando shooting, which took the lives of 49 and wounded 53 others, Sanders said the incident “had made crystal clear” the United States must enact gun safety measure that includes banning the sale and distribution of assault rifles and expanding background checks. Sanders, a self-described Democratic socialist, has not yet dropped out.
“With voting completed in the final Democratic Primary, it is now time for the Democratic Party to unify”.

“Real change never takes place from the top down, or in the living rooms of wealthy campaign contributors”, he said. But he also took the opportunity to encourage his allies to run for office on a local level, saying the Democratic party should have a “50-state strategy” and should “open its doors and welcome into its ranks working people and young people”, i.e. the people his campaign mobilized.
