Sanders says no tragedy if he loses Iowa; he can still win

“This thing will be won on the ground”. “She’s got this”, she said. I would love to see us do that.

When we asked the Sanders campaign about the claim, they submitted a consultant’s memo from January 8, 2016, that focuses on the Quinnipiac study and two other polls, a CNN/ORC International Poll from December 17-21 and an Economist/YouGov poll from December 18-21.

On Super Tuesday, Minnesota’s DFL and Republican party will hold caucuses to pick delegates to the national party conventions.

“The DNC has said this would be an unsanctioned debate so we would not want to jeopardize our ability to participate in future debates”, Sanders’ campaign manager Jeff Weaver said. Like Harkin he has been on board since August and the two know how to make sure people understand and attend the states caucuses.

“Almost all of the polls that – and polls are polls, they go up, they go down – but nearly all of the polls that have come out suggest that I am a much stronger candidate against the Republicans than is Hillary Clinton”, he told voters during a January 19 town hall meeting in Underwood, Iowa. “And the New England Journal of Medicine did an article about four weeks ago and said I’ll be damned, it actually works”.

Before Iowa voters have their say, the Republicans will face off once more at a debate on Thursday evening. “Frankly, if the voter turnout is not high then we’re going to be struggling”. “Bernie Sanders in the final week before the Iowa caucus”, said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

And its caucus system benefits campaigns that can effectively turn out enthusiastic supporters.

But Hillary wasn’t too far behind Sanders.

Mr. Sanders was at 49 percent in the Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday, Mrs. Clinton was at 45 percent, and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley was at 4 percent. He said people making more than $250,000 should contribute more to Social Security, which would raise the income of people making under $16,000 by $1,300 a year.

“If I’m the candidate best able to do that, you can bet your bottom buck we’re going to have a whole lot of establishment Democrats on board”, Mr Sanders said.

The event comes after Obama weighed in on the race in an interview with Politico’s “Off Message” podcast, though he stopped short of endorsing.

Bernie Sanders announced Tuesday that he is formally blocking President Barack Obama’s nominee to lead the Food and Drug Administration, citing concerns about his ties to the pharmaceutical industry and a lack of commitment to lowering drug prices. If those young, very liberal Democratic Caucus participants show up Monday and are organized, it will be a good night for Sen. Clinton responded later with little of the feistiness she has shown recently on the campaign trail, instead reverting to her earlier posture of confident front-runner, emphasizing her qualifications for the office and trying to avoid engaging her rivals.
