Delegates to the Democratic National Convention are giving mostly positive reviews to Hillary Clinton’s choice for vice president, saying Virginia Sen.

Ben Monterroso, executive director of Mi Familia Vota, said Clinton “has chosen a running mate that has a track record of advocating and fighting for the issues that affect the Latino community and our nation: immigration, health care, women’s rights and the environment”.
“He is qualified to step into this job and lead on day one”.
She said she’s bothered by Kaine’s association with the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a global trade pact that Sanders and Clinton oppose.

Citing Republican nominee Donald Trump’s favorite shorthand for Clinton – “Crooked Hillary” – or a preferred chant among Republican convention-attendees (“lock her up”), Kaine called such language “ridiculous” and said she’d admirably let the “water go off her back on this”.

Those who study the vice presidency usually concede that the veep pick has a negligible impact on the ticket’s eventual vote totals.
“He is a genuinely nice person, but Tim is no one’s punching bag. Bernie fought for nothing!” But his credentials as a moderate might not energise the Democratic Party’s base.
A devout Catholic but a pragmatic liberal, Kaine is personally against abortion and the death penalty, but has voted pro-choice in the U.S. senate and oversaw 11 state executions as governor of Virginia. “I mean it’s an embarrassment of riches”, Kaine responded.
