Sanders speaks to Washington delegation to Dem convention
Hillary Clinton did not speak at the Democratic National Convention in 1992 when her husband was nominated.

It was history repeating itself.
Former President Bill Clinton, speaking Tuesday on his wife’s behalf, told of campaigning this year in West Virginia – a now heavily Republican state that Clinton won twice in the 1990s – in front of coal miners who blame job losses on Democrats’ policies. Sanders didn’t just bring out political people; he brought out people like me, single moms, black people, Latinos.
The walkout was a testament to the disapproval of the Democratic National Committee’s Wikileaks email scandal early this week. “She has the courage to lead the fight for commonsense gun legislation”.
“He didn’t talk about the kinds of things we want to hear about”, the real estate magnate added. He is confident millennial voters will help defeat Donald Trump in November. While chanting “no justice, no peace” and “don’t vote Hillary, she’s killing black people”, organizers of the march asked the white people in the crowd to step back, as they wanted the focus to be on black and brown people, particularly because of the disproportionate amount of people of color regularly killed by police. “He informed his supporters about the stakes of the election and why they should support Clinton”, West said.
A Clinton victory against Republican nominee Donald Trump could depend on getting out the youth vote, she said.
There are about 49 million eligible voters aged 18 to 29 this fall, according to the Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement.
That last word sticks out for anyone who has been watching the 2016 election for more than five minutes.
“I move that Hillary Clinton be selected as the nominee of the Democratic Party”, Sanders said to massive cheers.
The Clinton campaign is trying to engage them online, through social media, but also face-to-face, said Audelo.
Robert Peters, 31, a convention delegate from IL, had some advice for Clinton.
Bill described how people who have worked with Hillary “know her to be able, straightforward and completely trustworthy”. Sanders addressed the convention that night, which some said pulled the event from the brink of disaster.
The excitement and enthusiasm he generated around that vision proved that millennials are not lazy and apathetic, said Peters.
Bernie Sanders supporters gathered at a plaza near City Hall, about 4 miles from the convention site, for daylong rallies and speeches. “Actually doing the work is hard”. “It means so much to so many women to see this”. Afterward, he said in an interview that he’s confident young Sanders supporters will get behind Clinton. “We can use President Clinton with any audience that is part of our base or the swing universe that we are reaching for” Joel Benenson, Hillary’s senior strategist, told Politico. You know it because she’s spent a lifetime doing it. I hope you’ll do it. I hope you’ll elect her. “She backed President Obama’s decision to go after Osama Bin Laden”. “It just can not happen”.
“This man is not qualified to be president and millennials are smart enough and engaged enough to realize that as well”, said Blake.
A 102-year-old woman cast Arizona’s delegate votes for Clinton. A common theme amongst them was their belief that she had close ties with Wall Street – an issue they felt strongly about.

“I married my best friend”, he continued. “I was still in awe, after more than four years of being around her, at how smart, and strong, and caring she was”. He looks forward to turning 18 on September 4 and casting his ballot for Clinton two months later.
