Sanders to join Hillary rally

Clinton, meanwhile, proposed increasing federal money for community health centers and outlining steps to expand access to health care across the nation, a gesture toward Sanders, who had promoted doubling money for primary care services at federally qualified health centers.
“We have produced by far the most progressive platform that this party has seen in multiple generations”, said Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy (D), co-chairman of the platform committee.
Sanders, of Vermont, has resisted endorsing the former USA secretary of state, senator and first lady, since she clinched the Democratic nomination last month. Sanders said, according to ABC News, which confirmed with sources close to the campaign that Sen.
Some of them got into the party platform draft, but not all – and it’s not certain that they’ll survive the convention, either.
He was successful. Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party have embraced many of his ideas, which is why Bernie Sanders is campaigning with Clinton tomorrow.
Clinton too is shrinking her VP pool, with Senator Elizabeth Warren, Senator Tim Kaine – with whom she campaigns Thursday in Virginia – Obama cabinet secretaries Tom Perez and Julian Castro, and congressman Xavier Becerra believed to be on her short list. The platform committee settled on Clinton’s proposal to regulate fracking’s methane emissions and impact on water quality, instead of calling for the Sanders-preferred nationwide ban.
Attorney Ben Crump, left, and former NAACP president Ben Jealous, right, come together to support a criminal justice amendment.
Bernie will now join Hillary Clinton on the campaign trail on Tuesday, when he will most likely endorse her.
“The nomination is not the only aspect of what politics is about”, Sanders said on CNN last week when asked about his refusal to suspend his campaign.
The negotiating sessions went past midnight and were described by committee members as the most contentious in decades, due to Sanders’ stronger-than-expected showing in the primaries, which resulted in the party giving him unusual influence over the platform.
Political clout is a perishable thing, though, and there are signs that Clinton no longer needs Sanders’ support as much as she once did. The Orlando terror strike last month by a U.S-born Muslim and the Dallas shooting of five police officials by an African American youth last week have triggered highly divisive and persisting public debates, giving a fillip to the campaign of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Over the weekend DNC delegates rejected one of the biggest pieces of Bernie’s platform by not including language clearly opposing the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal. The rally on Tuesday will send the message that now it’s time to focus on winning.
Even without his prompting, Sanders backers appear to be rallying behind the Democrats’ presumed nominee.

“On Sunday, Sanders declared victory, writing, ‘We now have the most progressive platform in the history of the Democratic Party, ‘” NBC reporter Kristen Welker said on Today.
