The emails indicated that officials favored Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders for the party’s nomination.
Miner, a co-chair of Clinton’s NY campaign, donated $1,500 to help the cash-strapped Sanders delegates pay for their travel costs and hotel room in Philadelphia. Brad Hoylman, D-Manhattan. “Maybe there are divisions among other delegations across the country but what’s excited is a lot of these Bernie Sanders supporters are first time delegates”.
At least some of the Sanders supporters are still not ready to make the shift. He was touring state delegations Tuesday morning to drive home his message of unity.
Sanders told them they must defeat the “worst Republican candidate in the modern history of this country”.
Sanders is a Brooklyn native who fared well in NY, garnering 42 percent of the primary vote in April to 58 percent for Clinton, who lives in Chappaqua, Westchester County.
The road to the White House runs through NY this year, and the general election battle between New Yorkers Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and Republican nominee Donald Trump has provided the state’s leaders with an upfront role in back to back nominating conventions.
But not every NY delegate is heeding Sanders’ advice to vote for Clinton. “As long as this convention goes and as long as this movement goes I’m going to be supporting Senator Sanders”, Joshua Brooks, 24, a delegate from Suffern. “We’re making a new reality in New York”, Cuomo shouted.
“I also want to applaud the senator for keeping his eye on the ball”. The undemocratic vote already took place, but the state Democratic Party treated us very unfairly.
By way of introduction, Cuomo ticked off a litany of progressive policies he’s rolled out in the state-a 15$ minim wage (which he dismissed before he championed it), paid family leave and marriage equality. “And when you pass paid family and medical leave it means that when a mom has a baby she can stay home with that baby”.
Cuomo, a Queens native, joked that Sanders will always be a New Yorker.
Yes, Cuomo said, as opposed to Trump’s plan to build a wall with Mexico.

“Some of the delegates sitting in the front row were insisting that Sanders delegates take signs they were handing out”, Escobar said in an interview Tuesday.
