Sanders trumps Clinton in Wyoming

Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders has snatched another win over his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in the Wyoming caucuses.

“All right, news bulletin”.

Clinton said that the next president would have to rebuild people’s trust in government, instead of what he called today’s political “screaming and yelling”.

Even if Sanders wins in states like NY, his campaign concedes he can’t mathematically clinch the nomination before July and the victor will be determined at the party convention.

“A more traditional approach is needed and Donald Trump recognises that”, Paul Manafort, Trump’s new delegate chief, said yesterday on NBC’s “Meet the Press”.

His Wyoming caucus win maintains the momentum that Sanders is eager to exploit as the campaign moves to much bigger states, including NY, with more delegates at stake.

Back in Wyoming, Van Cleave says she expects that the visits from Sanders and Bill Clinton will help drive increased turnout, especially among college students at the University of Wyoming. On the Democratic side, there are a whopping 291 delegates for the taking.

Pennsylvania – along with Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland and Rhode Island – holds its primary a week later. Clinton won the Arizona primary on March 22, but Sanders then beat Clinton in Idaho, Utah, Alaska, Hawaii, Washington state and Wisconsin.

“There’s no question I think the momentum is with us”, he said.

The former USA secretary of state said she was leading Sanders by 2.5 million popular votes and in pledged delegates.

The state’s 14 delegates will be awarded proportionally.

Saturday morning, Wyoming Democrats jammed into Cheyenne Central High School to caucus. Sanders has 1,068. To clinch the nomination by the end of the primaries, a candidate needs 1,237 delegates. So far, he’s winning about 45 percent.

The billionaire businessman also leads in the overall delegate count with 743, followed by Cruz with 545 and Kasich with 143.
