Sanders wants supporters represented at party convention

“I do not, and the millions who have supported our campaign will not, have any confidence that either of them will conduct committee proceeding in an even-handed manner”, Sanders wrote in the letter.

It is mathematically impossible for Bernie Sanders to win enough delegates in the remaining Democratic contests to secure the nomination, but his aides see a path through a convention battle in Philadelphia that would target the party’s superdelegates.

Sanders also wants more of a say on the 15-person committee that drafts the party’s platform.

It also means it’s high time for state legislators to make a permanent date change and give up on their 44-year-old fantasy that a June presidential primary will ever again mean much.

Asked if he would focus his fire on Donald Trump, with the hopes of helping whoever the Democratic nominee is, Sanders said he would focus on both of them.

While she liked what she heard from both candidates, she was more comfortable with Clinton.

Bartlett said specifically that many Democrats will be advocating for increasing the minimum wage, decreasing pay inequality and fighting GOP attempts to erode labor unions. He took 16 pledged delegates to Clinton’s nine.

At least two other presidential candidates have spoken at East Los Angeles College and gone on to be elected – John F. Kennedy in 1960 and Clinton’s husband, Bill, in 1992, according to Maria Iacobo of the Los Angeles Community College District.

“I know that at some point there is going to be a conversation between Secretary Clinton and Bernie Sanders about how we move towards the convention”, the president predicted.

Relying on numerous same advisers who laid the groundwork for her 2008 win, Clinton is looking to build on that strategy, targeting key demographics in the diverse region.

“Maybe some party establishment people that feel that way but voters don’t feel that way”, Weaver adds.

In that race, the former first lady notched almost 55 percent of the vote in heavily Democratic Los Angeles County, home to 10 million people and an important battleground in any statewide campaign. “There need to be procedural changes so that we get more people to participate and that we maximize the number of people who come out”. Because superdelegates are not required to support the victor of the caucus or primary and they can choose whomever they want, they sometimes go against popular vote.

But she said she and Sanders have the same goals.

“We’re going to be in this until the last ballot is cast”, Sanders said Friday.
