Sanders Welcomes “Messy” Convention in Philly
There hasn’t been any formal action to replace Wasserman Schultz so far, and some Democrats still ardently defend her, like House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and former Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter. She said the Florida congresswoman is playing a “starring role” ahead of the Democratic National Convention in July, which is unusual for someone in her position. The other thing they’re concerned about, is a messy convention in Philadelphia, and they’re anxious about a replay of 1968 convention, and those fears really hit home after the state convention in Nevada, where you had these violent outbursts, these angry demonstrations, and then Debbie Wasserman Schultz poured fuel on the fire by criticizing Bernie Sanders very harshly. “They would like us to go away and do things in the same old, same old”.

Pelosi said she believes disquiet among Democrats largely stems from unhappiness with the party’s delegate selection process. Clinton will get to name six of the chairs, and DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz would get to name the remaining four. “I have to say that is not everybody at the DNC, we have very good relationships with many people at the DNC”.
Wasserman Schultz, however, has no announced or known plans to step down from the role she has filled since being selected by President Obama in 2011. “Democracy is not always nice and quiet and gentle but that is where the Democratic party should go”.
The knives are out for Debbie Wasserman Schultz. “If I don’t, we will see what happens later on”.
The Hill’s editor Bob Cusack Tweeted Wednesday that as the paper was putting together it’s report, Wasserman-Schultz supporters began calling to register their support for her.
Sanders said the drafting of the platform would be an “excellent time to educate the American people”.
Schultz has been dismissing all the accusations against her.
On CNN, Weaver pointed to the debate schedules which had been set up by the DNC – many Democratic debates were over the weekend and the party held fewer than did the Republicans. He said the Democratic party could choose to be more inclusive.
New York Democratic Rep. Steve Israel expressed sympathy for her.
The next challenge for Sanders will be California’s June 7 primary. “It is being discussed quietly among Democratic senators on the floor, in the cloakroom and in lunches”, a senior Senate Democratic source told CNN on condition of anonymity to discuss private talks among lawmakers. The aide said there was only informal discussion among senators and no coordinated effort, but said “The question is: Has she become too toxic?”
