Sanders will vote for Clinton to stop Trump

The democratic hopeful for the USA presidency, Bernie Sanders, said Friday that in the November 8 elections he will vote for Hillary Clinton, his rival in the primaries and the party’s presumptive nominee.

In an interview he said he was “pretty good at arithmetic” and understood that Ms Clinton was ahead on pledged votes.

Since then, Sanders appeared this morning (June 24) on MSNBC’s Morning Joe where he professed that even if he isn’t elected himself, he will indeed vote for Hillary Clinton in the general elections in November.

“That’s totally absurd. That’s a corrupt system, and everybody knows what’s going on”, Sanders said in his one-hour speech, which also included some questions from the audience.

Sanders has essentially conceded he won’t be the party’s nominee, but he continues to campaign in a bid to force change within the party and in the national debate.

Sen. Bernie Sanders told more than 400 supporters Friday that New York’s restrictive voting registration rules and Wall Street’s giant investment banks need to be reformed in an ongoing movement for a more democratic and fairer nation.

Sanders picked up 108 delegates, while Clinton secured 139 delegates heading into the party’s convention in Philadelphia next month.

Stressing that a platform is “a piece of paper” and doesn’t mean anything on its own, Sanders called on supporters to help him ensure it becomes part of Democrats’ political agenda.

“You have superdelegates not respecting the democratic will of the people, we’re going to change that”, Sanders said. He did not mention her name, let alone endorse her as leading Democrats have urged.

Neither the Clinton nor the Trump campaign immediately reacted to Sanders’ statement Friday.

“I want the media to see the thousands of people who are out here knowing we won’t get in and still showing our support for Bernie”, Favilla, an electrician from Queens, said.

Sanders has raised about $2.5 million for congressional and legislative candidates in recent weeks, sending out fundraising emails on behalf of liberals who could further Sanders’ message.
