In late July, authorities released hours of jail video in an effort to knock down the idea that Bland was dead before she was brought to jail.

The family of Sandra Bland, an African-American woman arrested at traffic stop in Texas who was later found dead in jail, has settled a wrongful death lawsuit for $1.9 million, according to multiple media outlets.

At one point, Bland holds her head in her hands.

The details of the settlement were finalized Wednesday night, attorney Cannon Lambert said. Bland was arrested and taken to the jail about 60 miles (100 kilometers) northwest of Houston on July 10 and found dead July 13.

It was determined Bland hanged herself.

Also, the Walter County judge will seek passage of state legislation that will fund improvements in intakes, bookings, screenings and jail support, Lambert said.

The Bland family attorney could not immediately be reached by the Daily News. The jail and the Texas Department of Public Safety did not immediately comment on the settlement.

Dashcam video of her arrest and the circumstances of her death provoked national outrage.
