Sandy Kenyon reviews “Ant-Man”, starring Paul Rudd

(Warning: Major “Ant-Man” spoilers!). The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of “The Avengers” to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man“. As a fan of the Marvel series, I was slightly baffled when they announced Ant-Man years ago as he never seemed like a strong stand-alone character.

On my rating scale, “Ant-Man” earns a home run.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Did you direct both scenes? That was always a part of the movie.

Turns out, the ants assisting the hero should all be female. I’m actually quite confused as to what the movie was trying to be. It’s really her story as well. From the fittingly heroic theme to the surf-tastic closing number “Tales to Astonish!” (named for the comic in which Ant-Man made his first appearance), Beck’s music perfectly reflects the genre-layering story, really working a perfect balance of whimsy and peril, criminal and hero.

Verdict: It’s a funny and fresh comedy about a tiny man and his army of ants conducting a heist, and it has a killer supporting cast.

So, if someone is hopeful of seeing Evangeline Lilly in that suit at some point, will that hope be fulfilled, do you think? [Laughs] That to me would be a bad kind of tease. Tell us about it! By focusing on the relationships between the three main characters, you truly get a sense of who they are, and they are far from ideal human beings.

The picture follows the history of Antis thatMan, also known as Scott Lang. Unlike Iron Man’s multimillionaire alter-ego Tony Stark or Captain America’s loyal officer Steve Rogers, Lang will certainly be less valiant overvallen a exhausted papa and mean lawbreaker who holds enjoyed time imprisonment. Our hero also has a daughter he wants to see more.

“I was wearing a T-shirt with myself on it”, Rudd said when asked if his “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” character was as nerdy as Carell’s.

Y’all gonna see me unleash the FALCON.

The film’s depiction of Lang/Ant-Man set the tone for the character’s role in the upcoming “Captain America: Civil War”, said Reed, noting he showed directors Anthony and Joe Russo scenes from his movie while editing it for continuity’s sake.

That someone is Darren Cross (Corey Stoll), Pym’s former protégé, who is now an unstable, power-hungry megalomaniac with serious daddy issues. In true Bond movie fashion, you know that he’s going to be back. ” Cut to the audience losing their minds”. “We were at Disneyland like two days ago and they have kind of a sneak preview, the Ant-Man event that’s there, and we went there and I was sitting next to him, and to see like as a parent the look on my kid’s face when he’s watching this – and I’ll never forget”.
