A Florida police officer has been fired after singing a song entitled “Let the Killing Begin” with a death metal band – while on duty and in uniform.

Once the footage surfaced and Ricks’ superiors found out, he was sacked, according to The Orlando Sentinal.

Ricks was on duty and in uniform at the time, Smith told the Sentinel.

“An incident of this nature erodes the thin fibers of trust which already exist between the community and the police and it will not tolerated within the Sanford Police Department”, Smith said in a statement yesterday.

Prior to being fired, Ricks had issued a letter of resignation on October 30, and his last day with the police department was set for November 20, WKMG-TV reported.

The video got passed around the internet earlier in the week, and somebody made a decision to send the video to Ricks’ police chief, who obviously was not pleased and stripped Ricks of his authority.

State records show Ricks worked first for Apopka Police Department but resigned after six months in 2009.

“Police department is anxious about relationships with the people”. Well this cop just helped, but you fire him. Someone in the crowd shot video of Ricks’ in action and posted it to YouTube. The title track to that album, which “Let The Killing Begin” intros, contains lyrics such as “Like cancer…our hate consumes the light of elysium / Unstoppable force of demonic supremacy / All destroying…all devouring / Heaven now ravaged…scarred and empty”.
